“Go through the camp and tell the people; ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here, to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own’.”

(Joshua 1:11) In Joshua 1:1-11, God appoints Joshua to leadership after the death of His servant oses. God gives Joshua ample commission, full instructions and great encouragement. In the above verses Joshua gives orders to the officers of the people. Joshua had grown to know Moses very well. He knew his doctrine, his manner of life and his purpose, as well as his long-suffering. Moses had brought the people to the edge of the Promised Land, but it was Joshua who was to take them there.

This year God calls us, as a church, to keep “Pushing Toward the Promise,” He has given us. We must strengthen our church by ridding it of all maladies. We must make it and keep it a healthy church by reaching beyond our internal borders, out into the wider community, especially into Liberty City. God is issuing a deeper call to action. For too long our people have been victims. It is now time to be victors. We, as a church, are part of a “by us/for us” coalition that is bringing about real change in our community.

This year as we launch our Capital Campaign, we are asking each member to invest in this movement to enhance our ministry, launch our STEAM Academy and become a debt free church. Just as God promised the land of Canaan to Israel, we too, stand on His promise that our church and Liberty City can once again be a thriving haven for all God’s people.

Amen.
