The Village of the Church of the Open Door will operate under the premise that children during their early developmental years, ages 2-4, and the elderly, age 65 or older during their retirement years, deserve to be nurtured holistically: intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually.

The Village facility, located on the campus of The Open Door Church, will be made up of a child development and elder daycare center. The focus of the village will address the needs of children and the elderly in one of the neediest neighborhoods in Miami-Dade County, Liberty City. Statistics indicate that greater than 50 % of children within the general area of the location of The Village live below the poverty level. These are the same children who live in a single parent household, likely to have one parent who has contracted the AIDS virus, has a parent or sibling incarcerated, is destined to become a school drop-out and a parent by age 16. These individuals are the future of Miami whose lives can be positively impacted by preparing them to embrace the notion of becoming life long learners and productive citizens of the world.

The Village Child Development and Elder Daycare Center will operate under a philosophy that "with God all things are possible." This will be a village of wellness addressing the needs of children and the elderly who deserve to be treated with warmth and respect. The children and the elderly who will be serviced by the Village are especially in need of experiences that will provide them with a stable environment during the hours of the day when their primary caregiver has the opportunity to engaged in or seek gainful employment. The intent is not to totally enroll children and elders just from the immediate community, but to encourage a diverse population from throughout the county.
